#BookReview BECAUSE OF YOU by DAWN FRENCH #BecauseOfYou

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock . . . midnight.

The old millennium turns into the new.

In the same hospital, two very different women give birth to two very similar daughters.

Hope leaves with a beautiful baby girl.

Anna leaves with empty arms.

Seventeen years later, the gods who keep watch over broken-hearted mothers wreak mighty revenge, and the truth starts rolling, terrible and deep, toward them all.

The power of mother-love will be tested to its limits.

Perhaps beyond . . .

Dawn French is back with a story that really has you exploring the human emotions and contrasts in experiences. There’s laughter and tears and you can’t help but get involved in the story as it unfolds as it’s one of those that pushes all your buttons as a human! What if it was you? How would you feel?

This is the story of 2 women with 2 different pregnancy experiences! From the joy of birth, to the despair of a stillbirth – how do you carry on when you have to leave the hospital without your baby?

The story did feel a little ‘soap opera’ at times with certain things feeling a little too sugar coated and conveniently resolved, but it still made for a quick read as you just wanted to keep reading on to see where the story would take you and how the emotions that these women went through would take their toll over the years.

It’s difficult to say much more without spoilers, but it’s a fascinating look over a number of years at how life panned out for these two families – from the frustrations, the desperation, the highs and lows.

My thanks to Hanifa at Penguin Michael Joseph for the advanced reader copy in return for a fair and honest review.
