Hello and Happy Easter! How the flip is it April already?? Enjoyed some lovely sunshine this week, and it brought the butterflies back to the garden! Always a sight to bring a smile to my face!
Did slightly better on the reading front this week – warmer weather always makes me stop and read more! – so got 4 books finished! And I only added 1 more book to my Netgalley shelf and had some nice blog tour bookpost too!
Here’s my look back!

ANNA by SAMMY H.K.SMITH
publication date – May 2021
Beaten. Branded. Defiant.
Anna is a possession. She is owned by the man named Will, shielded from the world of struggles and possessions by his care. He loves her, protects her, and then breaks her. Anna is obedient, dutiful, and compliant. Anna does not know her place in the world.
When she falls pregnant, Anna leaves her name behind, and finds the strength to run. But the past – and Will – catch up with her in an idyllic town with a dark secret, and this time, it’s not just Anna who is at risk.
A chilling feminist novel set in a near-future dystopia, Anna explores the conflicts between selfhood and expectations, safety and control, and the sacrifices we make for the sake of protection.
AND IN THE POST FOR A FORTHCOMING BLOG TOUR…
THE METAL HEART by CAROLINE LEA
out April 2021
Orkney, 1940. On a remote island, a prisoner-of-war camp is constructed to house five hundred Italian soldiers. Upon arrival, a freezing Orkney winter and divided community greets them.
Orphaned sisters Dorothy and Constance volunteer to nurse the men. Dot is immediately drawn to Cesare, a young man fighting on the wrong side and broken by war and destruction.
The soldiers spend their days building a secret barricade between the islands. By night, however, they construct a reminder of their native land – an exquisite chapel.
As tensions between the islanders and outsiders grow, the sisters’ loyalty is tested. Will Dot choose love, or family?
