Release Day Post: Recipe for Mr Super by Anni Rose

Born and raised in Berkshire, I emigrated to Wiltshire seven years ago, where I now live with my husband, sister, two dogs and Midge, the grey speckled hen.

As a child, I loved writing fiction, producing reams of stories, thankfully lost over the years, although recently when we cleared my mother’s house out, ‘The attack of the Killer Tomatoes’ did resurface.

On leaving school, the need to earn a living sort of got in the way of any creative ambitions and I became an accountant where my only published work apart from regular financial reports was the employees’ handbook.

A local writing course and an encouraging group of writing friends re-ignited the fiction flame many years later and I went on to win or be short listed in several writing competitions. I had short stories published in Writers Forum, My Weekly and Sophie King’s ‘How to Write your Life Story’.

These days I would describe my writing as modern romantic stories with a healthy dollop of humour thrown in. I’m a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association and was delighted to have been signed by Choc Lit Publishing in 2021. Recipe for Mr Super is the third in my ‘Recipes for Life’ series and follows hot on the heels of Recipe for Mr Perfect and Recipe for Mr Right, both published last year.

Away from the garden and writing I can usually be found behind a camera, walking the dogs, enjoying one of my husband’s curries or my sister’s bakery treats.

The ‘Recipes for Life’ Series are all set in my fictional town of Redford. They are stand-alone novels although I have to admit some of the characters may have written themselves into more than one book.

Recipe for Mr Super was inspired by the four years spent working as an heir hunter and my love of horses. Having been lucky enough to ride and/or own some amazing horses over the years this is my tribute both to them and the lovely people I have met through riding over the years and to one amazing Shetland Pony who had a thing about Wellington boots!

About the book:

Where’s a hero when you need him?

In Autumn Rigden’s case, enjoying semi-celebrity status on the other side of the world. Although Nick Flynn is no superman – talented horse rider and Super Sportstar of the Year he might be, but he has a habit of leaving Autumn in the lurch when she needs him most.

Anyway, Autumn is too busy with her new career to care about Nick. Okay, so she’s had to give up her OIympic dressage dream, her childhood home and beloved Shetland pony – and all to the benefit of Gordon, Nick’s money-grabbing father. But Autumn’s new ambition is to become an heir hunter extraordinaire, and with a promising commission and only a few weirdos demanding she prove they’re related to royalty, she’s all set.

But when Mr Super returns, will Autumn find that forgetting about horses and the Flynns is harder than she could have ever imagined?

RELEASE DAY: Recipe for Mr Perfect by Anni Rose

Born and raised in Berkshire, I emigrated to Wiltshire six years ago, where I now live with my husband, sister, two dogs, a cat and Midge, the grey speckled hen.

These days I would describe my writing as modern romantic stories with a healthy dollop of humour thrown in. I’m a member of the Romantic Novelists Association and was delighted to have been signed by Choc Lit Publishing. Recipe for Mr Perfect is the second in the Recipes for Life series with Recipe for Mr Right, my debut novel published in June.

Away from the garden and writing I can usually be found behind a camera, walking the dogs, enjoying one of my husband’s curries or my sister’s bakery treats.

The Recipes for Life Series are all set in the fictional town of Redford. They are stand-alone novels but some of the characters may appear in more than one book. Recipe for Mr Perfect was inspired by the office I worked in, on leaving college. The character of Maggie in Recipe for Mr Perfect is based on a woman I worked with, sadly no longer with us, whose dry sense of humour and cutting remarks kept us going through many long days. If I could wave a wand and bring back just one thing to improve life today, it would be the sense of camaraderie, friendship and laughter that my introduction to office life gave me.

About the book:

How do you know if you’ve found Mr Perfect or Mr Perfectly Useless?

Jess Willersey realised things with Martin weren’t perfect, but it’s still a shock when he leaves. Is she destined to a singleton lifestyle with only her cat for company, or could a certain hat-astrophic encounter with a handsome stranger at a rather unusual wedding signal a turning point?

At the same time, Jess’s best friends and work colleagues, Maggie and Sarah, are going through their own personal disasters – from shocking family revelations to dodgy dating app-related drama.

To top it all off, it seems that the handsome stranger won’t remain a stranger – and when Neil Jackson turns up at the friends’ office with yet another bombshell, how long will he stay ‘Mr Perfect’ in Jess’s eyes?

#GuestPost RECIPE FOR MR RIGHT by ANNI ROSE #PublicationDay @ChocLituk

Delighted to be handing over the reins of the blog today to the lovely ANNI ROSE on the celebration of it being publication day for RECIPE FOR MR RIGHT!!!

Over to you Anni……..

RELEASE DAY: Recipe for Mr Right by Anni Rose

Recipe for Mr Right is my debut novel and I am thrilled Choc Lit are publishing it. It’s set in the fictional town of Redford which, in my head, somewhere, just north of the M4 on the Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire borders. My main character, Ruby, is relationship free and her world would be perfect if she hadn’t just been made redundant and stitched up by her kitchen fitter. With money being an issue, she figures the only way she can get to her dream destination of Japan or have the trappings of an extravagant lifestyle is by winning competitions, and she resolves to enter ten a day for a year. Surely that must be enough to change her life?

Ruby meets her upstairs neighbour, Adam, and his dog, when she takes in a parcel for him. Adam is a chef, who’s been in hiding since appearing on a televised dating programme and being pursued by his date. Consequently, he has vowed never to get involved with anyone ever again, but both their lives are about to change when Ruby wins him for an evening.

Ruby and Adam both have dreams, but previous relationships mean they also both have trust issues which need to be overcome if they stand any chance of a happy ever after.

I was inspired to write the story after a bad experience over a kitchen myself, but I should stress all the events and characters in this book are figments of my imagination, entirely fictional and these days I do have the kitchen of my dreams.

It has been great fun telling Ruby and Adam’s stories and being able to add in comedic elements. I think humour is important in life and an attractive quality for any hero or heroine, so I have loved spending time in my characters’ company and hope the readers will too.

We have always had books in our house, and I’ve been a passionate reader since a very early age. I usually have at least one on the go and enjoy books in most genres from

crime to romance. (Although, I’m not good with thrillers, or where the crime gets too gruesome. It’s one thing watching a television programme with a cushion over your face but reading like that can get really tricky!) Romance novels are my go-to books when I need to escape into a fictional world, however briefly, and nothing gives me more pleasure than a book I can’t put down. I love being taken on an emotional journey as long as it ends happily. I am an absolute sucker for a happy ending.

About the book:

A sprinkle of luck and a dollop of fate …

Ruby Brooks is a little sceptical when her horoscope say she’s going to have a fabulous year – especially when she loses a boyfriend and a job in quick succession. Plus, a rogue kitchen fitter has run off and taken everything, including the kitchen sink!

So, Ruby takes luck and fate into her own hands with an unusual resolution – she’ll enter ten competitions a day, whether they’re for her dream Japanese holiday or a year’s supply of dog food (she doesn’t have a dog), and win her way to happiness.

But when a Valentine’s Day prize from a local restaurant results in chef Adam Finder (and his dog, Brutus) appearing in her life, is that luck or fate? And will Ruby ultimately find out that true happiness doesn’t need to be won?
