The Little Duck Pond Cafe crew seem so welcoming and there’s even the chance of a new job. Baking delicious cakes has always taken Molly to a happy place, so the job – at the glorious Brambleberry Manor Cafe – might just be perfect for her. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rosie has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then, they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all – unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love. Rosie’s series of novellas is centred around life in a village cafe. The latest, ‘A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Cafe’, is out now.

Rosie has also written a full-length, standalone book, ‘Snowflakes over Moondance Cottage’, out now.

MY REVIEW

I have adored this series from the start and this latest installment – #9! – didn’t disappoint!! Having so much time following the characters in Sunnybrook, this book was another welcome trip back to catch up with all the latest goings on and to hear the story of another inhabitant!

Molly gets her chance to share her story in Lemon Drizzle Mondays, and it’s another cracking story of friendship, overcoming problems and the power of kindness!  Molly and her daughter, Eva – just the cutest little girl! – are having landlord issues and finding life a little tougher than normal. Starting a new job she doesn’t get off to the greatest starts when crossing paths with Matt, the local bookbinder, and she just wonders if her bad luck is going to continue! Her new job at Brambledown Manor Cafe starts off slowly, and they need to find ways to get new customers through the door. And that’s where kindness comes into action! It’s a novel way of attracting new people through the door and shows the power of community – and the power of offering cake as a reward!!

Once again, we get to reconnect with characters from previous Little Duck Pond Cafe installments, and it just feels like coming home again catching up with them all! Knowing what Molly has been through in the past, it really makes you feel for her and just want the best for her and little Eva.

It was just wonderful to escape into this world with this wonderful community and I’m already counting down the days until the next installment!!  Highly recommended!!

MY REVIEW

It is always a delight to read a book with a smile on your face, and that’s exactly what I found myself doing with this latest installment in the Duck Pond Cafe series, as we get to meet back up with ‘old friends’ – that’s what they feel like now to me as a reader! – and see the latest goings on in the wonderful community that comes together  through good and bad times.

And there’s good times on the way in the Winter Wedding, as the big day approaches for Ellie and Zak and of course things don’t run smoothly! There are last minute jitters and with Zak away a lot promoting his latest book, that means more time for Ellie to overthink things instead of just trying to enjoy herself!

There are many other characters who get featured in this book and their own trials and tribulations really add to the story. Hearing the stories from Jaz and Fen themselves adds an extra depth to this installment as each could have had their own story being the main feature. Jaz is struggling with her medical diagnosis and Fen is wondering just where her new relationship is going, despite being totally loved up and very happy!

I loved every minute of this book! There’s a great warmth and humour written into each character and you can easily picture yourself turning up in the community and finding a friend or two to hang out with and I’m already counting down the days until the next installment – Lemon Drizzle Mondays is on the way soon!! Hurry up already!!!

MY REVIEW

It is fair to say that I love this series, and just when you think it can’t get any better – it does!!!

The latest installment features Primrose, a woman with quirky fashion sense and on a mission to find her grandmother as she’s feeling very alone and just wants some answers to questions that have bugged her for years.

She’s found plenty to keep her days busy and put a smile on her face with working at the cafe, and dog walking, and soon there’s someone else making her happy as she grows closer to Callum who is new to the village. She’s been treated bad by an ex so she’s happy not to rush into anything dating wise!

The community are also brought together to support Fen who is appearing on TV in a baking show, and I love how they all turn up to watch it together!

With Primrose delving into the past to uncover some truths, she’s really pushed through the ringer emotionally and I even found myself getting quite teary at times!  The more that she uncovers too, the more she finds extra support from someone else who isn’t Callum!  What a dilemma to have!!

The author has created such a wonderful set of characters that you can really connect to.  It’s so great to catch up with various people with each new novella, but they can easily be read as a standalone if you’ve not visited The Little Duck Pond Cafe before!  I adored this latest installment and cannot shout loudly enough about how much I think everyone should visit The Little Duck Pond Cafe series!

MY REVIEW

I love this series so much! And with this latest installment – number 6 in the series but can easily be read as a standalone – I’m in love with it and the inhabitants of Sunnybrook even more!

With a wedding to be planned – for Ellie and Zak – there should be lots of happy times ahead for these characters, but there’s always something to throw a spanner in the works and in ‘Confetti’ there seems to be a massive cloud hanging over some of them that makes you wonder if maybe the marriage is not meant to be, especially as the book opens with what seems like a tragic event having taken place.

The story then jumps back 3 weeks so you can see what has led up to this moment and a lot can happen in 21 days!!  Ellie has had her heart set on an August wedding forever, and with her mum having Alzheimer’s then the quicker the wedding goes ahead the better, so her mum can share in a joyous day.  But disaster strikes on the venue front, and with a stubborn mum refusing to  do what’s best for her, then poor Ellie is really put to the test with what she has to deal with.

And there’s a new character to add to the mix in this part, Primrose, who seems to be searching for a few answers of her own, but is struggling to know where to turn. At least she hits it off straight away with the animal population of Sunnybrook and her farming skills are put to the test!

There is lots of humour and warmth throughout this story, and that mixes well alongside the more serious subjects that are faced by certain characters. It sums up life – it’s not all cups of tea and cakes! There’s reality in there and that helps you bond quickly with the characters – seeing them face up to real life issues.

Rosie has another hit on her hand with this one and I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment!! More please!!

MY REVIEW

This is the 5th novella in this wonderful series – book 6 will be coming out soon! – and I just adore every visit back to The Little Duck Pond Cafe and all the wonderful characters it seems to attract!

In this story we get to meet Katja who is nursing a broken heart and unsure what to do next with her life, and fills out a job application form for a little bakery in Sunnybrook, which her Gran sneakily posts off for her and she soon finds herself heading for an interview and maybe the start of a new chatper for her.  She put her name as ‘Kate Baker’ on the form for a laugh so has to live a double life answering to her new name as she feels weird owning up! Joining her as an assistant at the bakery is Madison and they don’t exactly hit it off to begin with, which makes sharing accommodation even more of a struggle!

I loved the whole set up in Sunnybrook and the additon of new characters always adds to the fun, and that is certainly true for this part of the series.  There’s always something going on and some of the behaviour isn’t pleasant so it is fascinating to see how they work through issues caused by others, while dealing with their own problems.  With Katja she hasn’t had it easy in the past, so is lacking a little confidence but she’s extremely hardworking and very loyal to family and friends and that is always a very admirable quality to have.

The addition of Richard, Fen’s brother, to the mix is another intriguing twist to the story and he’s dealing with his own stresses of setting up his own law practice but finds himself happy to be around Katja despite their awkward first meeting!

I really enjoyed this absorbing and heartwarming story and cannot wait for the next installment!!

#BlogTour Christmas at the Little Duck Pond Cafe by Rosie Green #bookreview @rararesources

Hugely excited to be able to share my thoughts on CHRISTMAS AT THE LITTLE DUCK POND CAFE by Rosie Green today as part of this fabulous Blog Tour. My thanks to the author, publisher and Rachel of Rachel’s Random Resources for letting me be part of it all!

Christmas at The Little Duck Pond Cafe

Fen has always hated being the centre of attention. She loves her new job, working behind the scenes at the Little Duck Pond Cafe and baking the scrumptious cakes that have helped its reputation soar. But frankly, she’d rather scrub the public toilet floor with a toothbrush than have to come out and talk to the customers. She’s always been happy to stay in the background as long as she has a good supply of books to escape into. That’s her kind of romance – the fictional sort where she can read about other people taking a chance on love, but she doesn’t have to risk her own heart. But that was before Ethan Fox arrived in the village and turned her world upside down. Ethan is a leading light in the local amateur dramatics theatre company and Fen knows he’s way out of her league. But when the popular village Christmas pantomime hits a crisis, Fen and Ethan find themselves thrown together. Can Fen overcome her shyness and find the courage to step on stage and save the day?

MY REVIEW

A welcome return to the wonderful setting of The Little Duck Pond Cafe, and this novella features Fen who is a much quieter member of the team. Always happy to be in the background but always smiling and happy to help people when needed! She’s at her happiest when she’s alone with a book and dreaming of Mr Darcy sweeping her off her feet! Just a shame that the real world doesn’t work out like that too often!

Her shyness never really bothers her but she starts to feel in a rut and wants to get out of her comfort zone a little, and when the dreamy Ethan invites her to join the local Am Dram group, maybe this is her chance to shine and get that romance book relationship she’s always dreamt of! The more she starts to join in with things, the more she comes out of her shell and believes in herself a little bit more. She is good enough to achieve what she wants and maybe that means she gets the guy too!

It was lovely being back in this world and nice to be able to catch up with some of the other much loved characters too from previous books. She’s always a good friend to those around her, and Ellie is in real need of a friend at the moment as her life is about to be rocked.

The only problem Fen finds is that reality doesn’t always live up to the fantasy so she begins to wonder if she made the right choice of getting involved with things.

I always read this series with a huge smile on my face! The characters have become friends as we follow them on their journeys and this story flew by and I can’t wait for another installment – hopefully soon!!
