#MusicMonday Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks

Monday returns!  And that means Music Monday – hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek – giving you a weekly chance to share a favourite song/video!

My pick this week – Stevie Nicks and Edge of Seventeen!!  When singers relied on talent rather than gimmicks and autotune!!

Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Who who who
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh

And the days go by
Like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own
I begin again
Said to my friend, baby
Nothin’ else mattered

He was no more than a baby then
Well he seemed broken hearted
Something within him
But the moment that I first laid
Eyes on him all alone
On the edge of seventeen

Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh

I went today maybe I will go again
Tomorrow
And the music there it was hauntingly
Familiar
And I see you doing
What I try to do for me
With the words from a poet
And the voice from a choir
And a melody nothing else mattered

Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh

The clouds never expect it
When it rains
But the sea changes colors
But the sea
Does not change
And so with the slow graceful flow
Of age
I went forth with an age old
Desire to please
On the edge of seventeen

Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh

Well then suddenly
There was no one left standing
In the hall yeah yeah
In a flood of tears
That no one really ever heard fall at all
Oh I went searchin’ for an answer,
Up the stairs and down the hall
Not to find an answer
Just to hear the call
Of a nightbird singing
Come away come away

Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh

Well I hear you in the morning
And I hear you
At nightfall
Sometime to be near you
Is to be unable to hear you
My love
I’m a few years older than you

Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she’s singing
Oh baby oh said oh

#MusicMonday SIR DUKE by STEVIE WONDER

First Monday of March! And time for some choons! This is Music Monday, hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek giving us a weekly chance to share a favourite song or video!

This week I’ve mostly been playing Stevie Wonder, so it’s difficult to choose my favourite of his! So many great songs! So Sir Duke it is!! Released in 1976 and still sounding wonderful!

Music is a world within itself
With a language we all understand
With an equal opportunity
For all to sing, dance and clap their hands

Just because a record has a groove
Don’t make it hit the groove
But you can tell by the dance that let’s you in
When the people start to move

They can feel it all over
They can feel it all over, people
They can feel it all over
They can feel it all over, people

Music knows it is and always will
Be one of the things that life just won’t quit
But here are some of music’s pioneers
That time will not allow us to forget, no

For there’s Basie, Miller, Satchmo
And the king of all, Sir Duke
And with a voice like Ella’s ringing out
There’s no way the band can lose

You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over, people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over, people

You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over, people
Can’t you feel it all over?
Everybody all over, people

Oh Denis doo be do
I’m in love with you, Denis doo be do
I’m in love with you, Denis doo be do
I’m in love with you

Denis Denis, oh with your eyes so blue
Denis Denis, I’ve got a crush on you
Denis Denis, I’m so in love with you

Oh when we walk it always feels so nice
And when we talk it seems like paradise
Denis Denis I’m so in love with you

You’re my king and I’m in heaven every time I look at you
When you smile it’s like a dream
And I’m so lucky ’cause I found a boy like you

Oh Denis doo-be-do
I’m in love with you, Denis doo-be-do
I’m in love with you, Denis doo-be-do
I’m in love with youOh Denis doo-be-do
I’m in love with you, Denis doo-be-do
I’m in love with you, Denis doo-be-do
I’m in love with you

#MusicMonday CALIFORNIA SOUL by MARLENA SHAW

Happy Monday! Time for another song, in this weekly tag hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek, where you get the chance to share a favourite song or video.

The grey skies are getting me down so I needed a song to get me thinking of Summer – and what better than California Soul by Marlena Shaw! Choon!!!!!

Like a sound you hear
That lingers in your ear
You can’t forget
From sunrise to sunset

It’s all in the air
You hear it everywhere
No matter what you do
It’s gonna get a hold on you

California soul
California soul
They say the sun
Comes up every morning

And if you listen carefully
The winds that ride
On the high tide
Whistle a melody

So the people started to sing
And that’s how the
Surf gave birth untold to
California soul

California soul
When you hear the beat
You wanna pat your feet
And you’ve gotta move cause

It’s really such a groove
Puts a brand new kind of
Thinking in your mind
And you can’t go wrong

‘Cause you’re happy all day long
California soul
California soul
They had the melody and the beat

But it still didn’t seem complete
Until they saw two lovers kissing
They knew just what was missing
So happy they were

Rocking and reeling
Because they added
That loving feeling
To California soul

California soul
California soul
Now if they move you
Will it move you

It can groove, you, baby
California soul
California soul, yeah
California soul Satisfaction, darling

#MusicMonday Chocolate by Snow Patrol

Happy Monday! Time for more tunes!  Hosted by the fabulous Drew atThe Tattooed Book Geek, Music Monday is a weekly thing where you get to share a song or video that you love!

And this week I’ve gone for Chocolate by Snow Patrol!  I love the band so it’s been hard to choose just one song but this is one I could listen to on repeat!

This could be the very minute
I’m aware I’m alive
All these places feel like home With a name I’d never chosen
I can make my first steps
As a child of twenty-five

This is the straw, final straw in the
Roof of my mouth as I lie to you
Just because I’m sorry doesn’t mean
I didn’t enjoy it at the time

You’re the only thing that I love
Scares me more every day
On my knees I think clearer

Goodness knows I saw it coming
Or at least I’ll claim I did
But in truth I’m lost for words

What have I done? It’s too late for that
What have I become? Truth is nothing yet

A simple mistake starts the hardest time
I promise I’ll do anything you ask, this time

#MusicMonday Crystal Clarity by Vintage Trouble

I’m finally joining in!! The wonderful Music Monday hosted by the fabulous Drew at The Tattooed Book Geek allows you to share songs you love every Monday!

So the song that is playing on repeat for me at the moment is this one by Vintage Trouble, one of my fave bands, called Crystal Clarity.

(I said I heard you)
And how about if I said to you How ‘bout if I said that our love’s dropped dead Over the things you do not do
How about if I scream would you know what I mean More than you deem to prove You’re not the only one who misses what we knew
How dare you say to me That I neglect who we are, rejected who we’re meant to beWhen you’ve ejected my golden kisses and every memory How convenient that your eyes don’t see two sides of the street
So now I know (Goddamn Goddamn)

And clearly see (Goddamn Goddamn)

How our story goes And how it’s going to be now that I know (Goddamn Goddamn)I’m looking out for me Crystal clarity
So now I know (Goddamn Goddamn)And clearly see (Goddamn Goddamn)How our story goes And how it’s going to be now that I know (Goddamn Goddamn)I’m looking out for me Crystal clarity
Goddamn Goddamn

Can’t pretend the road’s not hit a bend Shan’t pretend the skies are not falling and that walls aint closing in It’s like my heart’s revealed It cannot feel the way to mend We’ve run out of time and hands aint inclined to wind again Not more the winding
So now I know (Goddamn Goddamn)And clearly see (Goddamn Goddamn)How our story goes And how it’s going to be now that I know (Goddamn Goddamn)(now that I know)I’m looking out for meCrystal clarity
Finally clouds are gone Finally air to breathe Strapping my wings back on Walking on dancing feet Spinning my favorite song Playing it on repeat Should’ve known all along
